The techniques of ageing and antiquing all produce finishes that imitate the effects of time on paint, wood plaster, plastic, metal and even paper.
These techniques can be used individually or combined to create a complex aged apperance, and include applying colored glazes or waxes to age paintwork, toning down colors and highlighting areas of wear.
Applying patinas to metal or plaster, crackle varnish to produce ageing cracks on painted surfaces, and spattering to resemble fly-spotting.
These ageing techniques can be used in combination with distressing effects, sanding-off paintwork, scratching, denting, chemical "burning" and texturing. |
